Order vs. Booking

The Einstein II IRP system uses two core concepts: order and booking. The following table provides major differences between these concepts.

  Booking Order
Description Event scheduled for a particular Employee from Scheduling. Staffing request created from Order Management.
Features
  • A booking is visible on Scheduling, but not visible on Order Management.
  • A booking is a simplified entity with such attributes as type, region, location, department, skill, Start Date, End Date, and assigned Employee.
  • Only one Employee can be assigned to a booking (for details, go to Schedule bookings.)
  • A booking is always filled.
  • An order is visible on Order Management, but not visible on Scheduling (only linked from corresponding bookings.)
  • An order is a complex entity with such attributes as type, associated positions, job distribution type, job description, special project, contact, and credentials.
  • An order has a specific workflow (for details, go to Order procurement.)
  • An order can have multiple positions and multiple Employees in different statuses (for details, go to Order and Employee statuses.)
Types
  • LTA (L on Scheduling)
  • Per Diem (no abbreviation on Scheduling)
  • Orientation (ORI on Scheduling)

For details, go to Understanding the calendar grid.

  • LTA (L on Order Management)
  • Per Diem (D on Order Management)

Order and booking interrelation

While representing different entities, order and booking can be closely connected. Following are the possible interrelations between them:

  • An LTA booking is always linked to a corresponding LTA order. You can add LTA bookings on Scheduling only for the Employees who have already been onboarded to LTA orders from Order Management.
  • Editing/removing a booking linked to an order affects the order (for details, go to Edit scheduled events.)
  • You can convert a booking (LTA or Per Diem) to a Per Diem order during editing/removal (for details, go to Edit scheduled events or Remove scheduled events.)
  • A booking can be automatically matched to an existing Per Diem order. Then, an Employee is onboarded to the matching order and the booking is linked to it (for details, go to Bookings and orders interrelation.)
